Smokey Tides by Meema Smokey Tides by Meema

Prints now available (no watermark) at:…

This was taken on a sunrise shoot at the beach down at Burleigh Heads, Australia in November 2009. I stayed up all night and rode my bicycle down to the beach and was hopping all over the rocks scrambling trying to find a good spot to shoot. My feet ended up getting completely soaked but it was worth it. The tide was coming in so each time the water rushed in it was getting deeper and deeper.

Thanks. I really enjoy getting my feet wet and my hands dirty when it comes to getting the shot. It really makes it feel all the more worth while. :)

Thanks. It was a bit tricky trying to take the shot. Ss the waves came in I'd hold the shutter down and had to spend a few tense couple of seconds waiting for it to close before I lifted the camera up just as the waves came crashing over the rock I had the camera balanced on. I ended up completely soaked after doing this a few times, but the camera survived and I got the shot so that's what really matters.

Nice shot, low speed to capture the movement of water!

Thanks! I find for this type of show 1/4 of a second is the magic shutter speed. I love doing long exposure shots with water. :)
